About Your System
You should have your tank pumped regularly, between every 2-4 years to help avoid drain line issues.
You should use some sort of additive, be it ours, a store brand, or plain yeast, to help maintain a healthy bacteria in your tank, also helpful in fighting drain line issues.
A leaking faucet or toilet can be very damaging to a septic system, as they are not designed for a constant flow of water. If you suspect a leak, try to locate and stop it ASAP.
“My system is working fine, so I don’t need to do anything to it,” usually means when you do have to do something, it’s going to be dramatically more expensive than routine maintenance. Remember, you can drive your car without changing the oil every 3,000 miles, but once your car stops, it STOPS.
